The Sound That Brought the Barrier Down

Troubled aching sleeper sacred heard a waking Sound,
Came up from the recesses of the underprivileged underground,
And it woke a sleeping giant
Gave a voice to the silent Silent,
Breathing in did it run wild
Singing songs of some long hidden golden child,
Then years upon years to give it life and liberation took their toll,
Human bonds were broken unneeded by the soul,
In unison the doubting denizens of a ruined city told me on deaf ears will you fall,
I have heard both the devil and divine call my name
Shouting "temptation, salvation: they are the same."
And I answered "if you wish to own me"
"If my heart and mind are what you seek all you have to do you see is speak"

Voices came from all directions, heralding the coming insurrection,
And a casualty sustained, <metal beam forced deep into the brain>
Funerals aren't for the dead, but for the dying that remain,
And fate chose an exodus from this broken city of steel,
"Choose my way and you'll be saved, you will be fulfilled"
"NO! stay and you'll be made, or else I will have you killed"

And I, I saw beauty,
In a woman so lovely,
Was this deception or grace? (a gift from above?)
Or was I tempted off the path by a pretty face (an illusion of love?)
I'm gone.

Enamoured was I I saw love in her eyes,
She laid in my arms and her lips took off my disguise,
With a smile so fair and a flip of her hair,
And her body laid bare, led my way up the stairs,
Where she opened my mind,
Gave me life for the first time.
